We have also represented the interests of the State of Ohio. Among other noteworthy engagements, during the early 1970's, the law firm served as Special Counsel to the Ohio Superintendent of Insurance with respect to the conservatorship of Ohio Valley Insurance Company, a high-risk insurance company. This was the first insolvency under the then-new Ohio Insurance Guaranty Act. More recently, the law firm was retained by the Ohio Insurance Guaranty Association to defend over 350 pending medical malpractice actions as a result of the insolvency of the insurance carrier. Lane, Alton & Horst resolved 100% of these cases without any financial participation by any of the physician defendants we were asked to represent.
